It is self evident the acres of new solar products seen at the SPI convention will need to be installed and maintained by an educated and trained workforce. MiraCosta College Alternative Energy had a booth at this convention and was overwhelmed by hundreds of attendees seeking more information about solar installer certification training. It is unfortunate that such an important program, provided by an accredited community college, has no access to all this funding described in the Obama recovery act. We urge your support such programs both financially and materially. Students need help with tuition, and the school needs help funding the hardware such as solar panels, inverters, racking equipment and tools so that they can provide quality education. It is sad to see college administrators have to beg parts from manufacturers, and the WIA funding for students only lasted a few months. Please contact MiraCosta AE program with your ideas for hardware sponsorship and student Tuition aid.
